Special: The Best (Clubs) of Clubhouse
This club has 380k members & followers. That’s a lot of humans!
Special Edition of Clubstack
Yesterday, Human Behavior officially became the largest club on Clubhouse.
Today, we’re shining a light and sharing advice on what makes it great.
First things first.
How big is the club?!?
380,000+ members and followers. That’s a lot of humans!
What is the club’s main focus?
Oh, you know. Just…“Exploring the brain.”
And what can we learn?
It’s a club to discuss human behavior - including personal, consumer and even tech industry startups. Silicon Valley innovators have increasingly used behavioral science for optimizing their health, building tech products and making decisions.
So, how did it all start?
Meet Dr. Sohaib Imtiaz.
Also known as “The Digital Doctor”.
It all began when he created a newsletter in summer 2020 —> Digital Doctor.
That’s where an early user of Clubhouse, Shardul, read app reviews from the doctor. Shardul thought he would add value in Clubhouse, especially with his focus on health and tech.
By September, Dr. Sohaib set up the “Human Behaviour” club with co-hosts in behavioural science and marketing. The name is broad intentionally because it covers all of his interests including tech, health, neuroscience and start-ups. This easily allowed discussions to vary, and get a range of guests. The aim in starting the club was to be able to interview the top neuroscientists, thinkers and entrepreneurs, as well as explore personal interests.
*Author’s note: the spelling of Behaviour and Behavior may change throughout this article :-)
And how did the club get to #1?
Here are 8 tips from the Digital Doctor.
Consistency: having shows at least 3x a week (and now 1-3x a day) with a clear structure and expectations.
Expertise: having many speakers with impressive credentials that you can rotate so people they don't get voice fatigue.
Moderation: consistently and carefully ensuring credibility of the conversation.
Diversity: having a good working knowledge (sleep, exercise, nutrition, mental health, skin, stress) to engage a broad range of guests and audiences.
Algorithm: ranking highly for three different categories (Wellness, Tech and Knowledge)
Collaboration: working with other clubs such as Medtech, Biohacking and Middle East Start Up.
Networking: creating an inner circle of strong, trusted relationships within the community
Promotion: sharing events on social media beforehand and using the guest name + credentials in the title.
